I recently appeared in the Homlessness Marathon on February 22, 2011. This was THE place to be in Kansas City for a mental health and homeless advocate. The most important thing I learned was that most homeless people were productive citizens before they became homeless. The idea that most homeless people have a mental health or substance abuse problem doesn’t actually bear up to research. On the other hand, many people that are homeless are being pressured into accepting help for mental illnesses that they may or may not actually have. Here’s that video:

Brian and I were featured for riding our bicycles to Jefferson City for Missouri Bicycle and Pedestrian Advocacy Day. It turned out that the event got snowed out when the capitol got a foot of snow that day. We took the train home a day early and got back before the heavy snow.
